Trying for Better Golf Scores

By | November 30, 2010

Working on Golf Scores – Do you think of yourself as a hack on the golf course? Are you embarrassed to tell your golf scores to anyone? Then you will want to read my blog. I am on a quest to get my golf scores to a better than hack average. Both leagues I golf on the average score for nine is 48. Is this you? My average was 49.

It has been said that the average for all golfers is 99.9 for 18 holes

and there are 26 million golfers. So, don’t feel lonely. There are lots of us in that hackers range and many more even worse.

I am trying to get a grooved golf swing where I can score in the low 40′s or upper 30′s and be the best or second best golfer in the league. Would you like to do that also. Then follow me on my quest, see me work on it and learn from me. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

First I want to tell you that most of these events occurred previously and the tails about my current golfing scores have been occurring over the summer. I began this blog in October and it is now November as I post these but the current events happened June, July, August, September, October and November of 2010.

If you are just now starting to read my blog I would advise that you go to the beginning and read back up to these current posts so that you understand how life got in front of golf and what led to the loss of my golf swing and how I am getting it back.

==================================

It’s a new day and I can nag a little before I get on with my story. The next time I play will probably be with my wife so I will be playing for more consistency.

But the next round with the guys I will try to make solid contact and choose different clubs. Or continue using the same clubs and see if I am going to be short all of the time. Then I will practice my chipping to get close for a one putt.

Anyway, I want to get back to my coming in third in the Monday night league. Well, I did and to my surprise they handed out gift certificates for first, second and third. As they were passing them out I thought it would be maybe $25 but to my surprise they presented me with a $50 gift certificate to a local golf chain. First place got $100 and second got $75.

So here I was, a new comer to their league, not used to playing a scrambles every week with a different partner and scoring well. Coming in third to two much better golfers then me but coming in third none the less. So, I am not as much of a hack as I think of myself. My average for the season using this format was 41. First and second place players average for the season were 38 & 39 respectively.

For the past three weeks I have been playing golf but not for score but for practice. But for three rounds I played and kept a golf score I average 91 which is just a little over 45 average for nine holes. I have improved by seven strokes over the past nine or ten weeks for nine holes. For eighteen holes I am about 13 strokes better. Pretty good but not exactly what I was looking for. I guess you have to take your improvements in bits and pieces.

There is still six weeks of golf in our neck Erection packs. Viagra, Livitra… of the woods so I will continue to better my play and my golf scoring by trying to be more consistant and not over swing. I see more of that on TV or the Internet, the pros talk about hitting the ball with a swing that is about 70% of your full swing. I will get into that more when I start practicing for the new year in January, 2011.

The reason for that is to try to maintain your tempo for good consistent golf swings. I will continue to let you know about my progress. Also when winter sets in, I will let you know what I am doing to continue and improve my game and at the same time experiment with things I learn on the Internet.

So, I hope you will hang in there with me.

There is one thing I have come to realize. Most golf courses and driving ranges do not have a place for you to practice chipping. If there is a putting green they will not allow you to chip for fear that you will injure someone. Believe me I can understand that and you should too.

That means, it is hard to practice the chip. You have to find a place where you can do that and it will be outdoors. That does not help over the winter, so you will more than likely have to wait until next spring to practice chipping.

Next post is my next round of golf. With more golf swing tips.
