Golf Score help – a new driver to help my golf scores but first I want to tell you that most of these events occurred previously and the tails about my current golfing scores have been occurring over the summer. It is October as I post these but the current events happened June, July, August and September of 2010.
If you are just now starting to read my blog I would advise that you go to the beginning and read back up to current so that you understand how life got in front of golf and what led to the loss of my golf swing and how I am getting it back.

MY driver is a dud.
It is big compared to my old driver but it was not big compared to the current craze of big headed drivers. I believe the average big head is 460ccs. Well my old driver was about 80ccs and this current driver I am using is about 200ccs.
I was talking to one of my other friends and I talked to him about the big drivers and he suggested I go to one of the national chains that sells golf equipment and have them analyze my swing and make a suggestion for the type of club I should use. I told him I should go to our mutual friend that used to make golf clubs and he told me it was the 21st century and it was time to use all of the equipment available.
I would have agreed with him except that we had a mutual friend that had drivers and/or could build me one for a lot cheaper then buying a new driver. These new drivers cost $300 to $600 and I cannot justify spending that kind of money for as little as I play. I could get a brand new knockoff for less than $200 with my friend or even less if I got one of his used clubs.
I was reluctant to go to the national chain . So I called on my golf club making friend again. He said he had a few drivers I could try and he would meet me at the driving range. We met and I brought his driver he had given me with the 200cc head. I was shocked.
There he was with nine drivers, three were about 200 to 300cc heads and the rest were all the 460cc heads. Most had stiff shafts and a variety of grips. They had regular grips, fat soft grips even a reverse taper grip. Well I began hitting these clubs and luckily I was still hitting the driver pretty good.
He had a large bucket of balls and after hitting 5 to 7 times with each driver I could not remember which one did what. But we got chased off of the driving range when
the sirens went off for lightning in the area.
So, I asked if I could take two or three and try them when I played. He gave me my choice of three or whatever I wanted. I did just that. I took three so that I would not get confused. Plus I had the old one he had originally given me.
So contrary to our mutual friends advice I went to our golf club making friend and used his drivers to try to see if any of his clubs were right for me.
Next post, “the results with these new drivers”.
