Why My Golf Scores Soared

Golf Scores – My golf scores soared but first I want to tell you that most of these events occurred previously and the tails about my current golfing scores have been occurring over the summer. It is October as I post these but the current events happened June, July, August and September of 2010.

If you are just now starting to read my blog I would advise that you go to the beginning and read back up to current so that you understand how life got in front of golf and what led to the loss of my golf swing and how I am trying to get it back.

============================

I still wanted the golf swing of my glory years.

So, I continued to look for someone that would help me with my golf swing and get my golf  scores back down to a resonable score. I decide that I would probably never be close to the scratch golfer I almost was. If I were to improve so that my golf scores would be on average at or near 40 for nine holes that would make me better than a large number of golfers.

If I could shoot 40 to 43 I would be very happy.

If I could shoot less than 90 for 18 holes that would make me very happy. So that is my goal right now. I am playing in this league again this year and as a sub I am playing 85% of the time. I have joined another league on another night and am third best in the league.

The two leagues play differently. The Wednesday league has permanent teams that play against each other. Their averages are added together and the difference is handicapped at 80%. They add up the two golf scores and they play against another team of two. If one team has an eight with their two scores minus any handicap advantage and the other team has a nine then the winner (or lowest scorer) gets 2 points for that hole and the other team gets none and if they tie the totals on the hole they each get a point.

The Monday league is not teams. Each person gets a score (their total for the nine holes) added to their total and the total is where they are positioned. Each night that they play they are teamed up with another golfer and play a scramble. A scramble is where each member hits their ball and whichever shot is the best they use it and both players hit their next shot from that location.

Playing a scrambles makes for lower scores. So when the total is added, each member of that team for that night will get that same score. Luckily, I have been very good using my chipping and putting to help the scores which is why I am in third place. But we are required to use each others drives at least three times. Which helps bad golfers be involved in the play and not have the really good golfers run away with the scores.

I am still not scoring as well as I would like but I am hitting the ball much better and each week I seem to get better. With the two leagues and a practice round before one of them, I am playing a lot more now.

This is long enough, the next post is How can I get better golf scores?
